Pros;

• Cost – with energy costs continually rising, a wood-fired hot tub is much cheaper to run. You also won’t need the expense of an electrician to install your tub. The outlay cost of an electric hot tub vs wood-fired is also higher.
• Easy to set up – All you need is level ground and our hot tubs can be installed anywhere
• Quick to heat – Our 5ft tanks take 1.5hrs and 6ft tanks take 2 hours to heat up to 37 degrees. A ‘traditional’ hot tub would take around 3-7hrs to heat up from cold.
• Easy to clean and maintain – Simply, empty, wipe, refill.

Cons;

• No bubbles – our hot tubs do not have jets, though many prefer this as there’s no splashing onto the face and it means you can enjoy the peaceful sounds of nature
• Attendance – you have to ensure the fire remains stacked with logs and continues to burn

It does depend on your tank size, ambient temperature and starting water temperature but typically our 5ft ovals take 1.5 hours, 6ft ovals 2 hours. Our 5ft rounds take around 2.5 hours, 6ft round 3 hours and 7ft round 3-4 hours.

We recommend hardwood logs for our stoves. It depends how long you heat your tank for but typically you will need approximately one basketful of logs to heat a 5 or 6ft tank for 3 hours. Our chimneys are tall so that the smoke is taken away from the burner. The fire only typically smokes when first lit and whenever it begins to die out. When the fire is burning fully there is little smoke from the chimney.

There is no electricity or plumbing required. All you need to level ground and access to a hose. All tank kits are sent with instructions to guide you though setting up your Tub Tanks hot tub.

To keep the water clear we recommend adding a chlorine dispenser to the water. If you prefer not to use chemicals then adding Epsom salts to your water daily will keep it clearer for longer – up to around 6 weeks.

To clean the tank you undo the plug and allow the water to drain away, gently tip the tank (or sweep the water through the plug hole), wipe with a cloth and refill. To maintain the stove we recommend you sweep out the ash after each use.

Tub Tanks offer the perfect budget-friendly option for at-home wellness. Our tanks are made from galvanised steel so won’t rust. They are durable, easy to clean, plastic free and fully recyclable and end of life.

A traditional Swedish-style hot tub offers a wood finish, higher sides and a wood burner built into the tub itself but these are a much more expensive option.

Our tanks are made completely from galvanised steel in Nebraska, USA. The benefit of this is that at end of life they can be transformed into garden planters, ponds, animal feed/water troughs or recycled. No part of our tanks should end up in landfill.

We drill all necessary holes and send full instructions with our hot tub kits. Essentially all you need to do is ensure it is placed on level ground, connect hoses between the tank and the wood burner, fill it up and it’s then ready to go!
